Trident NP - it’s not 100% matching Hanna but close enough to detect trends. I have NeoPhos on a DOS so very precise & easy. My PO4 dropped to 0.03ppm to turning it back online.

Spent another hour (or two) cleaning the sump! The skimmer body is filthy but will need to soak with citric acid and scrub this weekend. Ugh

I'm going to free up a huge section in the sump after the skimmer and before the return pumps. I used this area for reactors: sulfur, ozone, and carbon. What's the best use for this space?
1. Leave it empty
2. Add a refugium with macro algae to feed the fish (make sure algae won't clog return pumps)
3. Add a refugium with small rocks / bio media for copepods & other stuff to grow
4. Convert into a small frag tank to propagate mushrooms / easy-to-grow stuff

Fully recharged my Ozone Air Dryer with a commercial dryer.

Out of curiosity, anyone have thier ozone connection come loose and your home was sanitized due to the time it was left on? Heard its not too toxic and smells of chlorine.

At 40 mg/hr for 2hrs or even 24hrs, it’s unlikely you’ll smell something unless you put your nose to it. The smell is distinctive, yes - like chlorine, hospital, or burning plastic.

In our situation, the fish room is very far away from our living quarters and well ventilated, we wouldn’t smell anything anyway. Besides, I haven’t smelled anything when I was running through a reactor > carbon reacto. This time I’ve removed both reactors and went directly to the skimmer. To have zero ozone escape, you can put activated carbon on top of the skimmer’s holes. I’m planning to 3D print something - also get rid of the skimmer smell as well. This method should last months.

I’ll try this method for awhile to see and might plumb it back to the Avast Mutiny unit since I already own it. The Mutiny is supposed to be more efficient (better contact time) than the skimmer. I just hate cleaning it! lol

UV and its effect on ORP - UV is attributed to ORP going up. Since UV is breaking down organic organics, it’s indirectly raising ORP from the graph below. My UV does offline between 4pm-9pm to conserve power.

Got a new toy today — bought a cheap PAR meter from Amazon - $130. Basically, take whatever the result and multiply by 1.35 (35% less from Apogee).

So the usual place where I place SPS, I’m clocking in at around 375 (Orphek bars) in the big tank at peak for 4 hours. However, on my frag tank, it’s 600 (Radions G6 Blue) at peak!

So..there’s a reason people don’t clean their skimmer/sump often. It was a pita if caked in coralline!!!

Hot day today! Although I have AC in the fish room, I wanted to see how effective is the Honeywell fan cooling down the tank. It’s now set up to the Apex to kick in at 77F. It wasn’t that bad actually - got to 79F and now dropping.
