Need your help on the gigantea treatment. The blue one is not doing well after 2 months and the purple one is gaping a little.

@k.tran I’m gonna treat the blue gig when I get home. I’ve prepared this before work so hope it won’t melt on me…

Good luck! I've always heard that you can't keep 2 gigs together.

Maybe reach out to @Tangwich I think he has one successfully long term.

Gigs can be kept together, just have to qt all new ones if you introduce to established ones. Try cipro in combo with amox, good luck, they dont look great and hopefully you can salvage. Your purple will need treatment as well

I’m Cipro treating the purple now — looks like it’s also infected. Sigh - this hobby is demoralizing. I can keep SPS alive but can’t get gigs to stay alive for more than 3 months!!!

Shoot so sorry… if you need any more cipro I have some available.

Wish I had better advice. Ali may be able to recommend some steps. He’s had two gigs in his main display for years so I don’t think that would be an issue having multiple.

Do you feed them? I haven’t really fed mine since I got them and wondering if maybe overfeeding can cause issues? I’m not an expert so really can’t say what keeps happening to your gigs.

So sorry to hear. Hope the purple pulls through.

At two months they are usually good, were they inflating/deflating during the two months?
They were inflating / deflating with peak photo period and night, respectively.

The blue moved and suspect ripped his foot stretching across the higher rock and pvc flooring? He never attached to the rock though.

Thanks man - I have not fed them since that might introduce infections.

Appreciate the offer for Cipro - I still have 12 pills left. I’ve dispensed half a pill (250mg effective) to the 5gal bucket. Will do a 100% WC (by switching bucket) and 1/4 pill (125mg) everyday for a week.

Will update you guys in the morning - I’m optimistic that the purple will pull through since he inflated fully this morning.

Thinking out loud — IF I can treat the purple, he’s not going back to the frag tank. There is some bad juice with that tank that I’ve lost 4 gigs so far. I’m going to put him in my new mushroom/ nem tank?

Bad idea?

Day 2 - mouth still gaping but not a whole lot. Oral disc opened a little but that can be due to no light.

I’m heating another 5gal for the WC bucket swap tonight.

Thanks — I think I’m done after this. I feel so guilty for killing these innocent creatures! :(
