Well - a few of my “friends” (aka former, dead Presidents) helped immigrate a lime green gigantea.

Day 2 Update- lost some color but the foot is secured and had one purge cycle. It inflated throughout peak photo period and mouth has been tight the whole time.

Fingers and tentacles crossed. Hopefully this one will thrive.

This time - I’ve removed all other RBTA’s and Euphyllia’s from the tank. Additionally, clowns were yanked and isolated to their basket, not disturbing the gig.

We are in lockdown mode to make sure this gig has a super stable environment.

Well - it’s already deteriorating so Cipro treatment again! Ugh — keeping gigs is so brutal!

I suspect it’s light shock — my schedule ramped up too quickly and it deflated. It was fully inflated prior to light coming online. I’ve adjusted the schedule and set a max of 40% and it’s better now.

Will keep an eye on it before yanking it out for treatment.

Just got home from dinner and saw that the gig re-inflated like nothing happened. Still anchored, mouth closed, and puffy! It lost some color but prefer stability & good health for now…

Speaking of stability - alk is locked in at 8.2dKH this week. I’m dosing 55mL of AF Pro 1/2/3. Guess I’m done so will test in a month.

So far so good — it lost some zooxanthellae but still inflated during peak photo period. Still anchored, mouth closed, and inflated. Hoping to make it past another week.

Yesterday - the foot was getting detached and shriveled. I’ve moved it to my 65gal and submerged the rock into sand. It’s a lot happy here — minus dealing with potential touching from the ChSB.

So this sucks! Its mouth started to invert itself and Cipro treatment didn’t work. I’ve lost the green gig.

I am officially done — these animals belong in the ocean or I just need to stop killing them. :(

Anybody got a small red Haddoni, let me know! I’m done with gigs. I just don’t know why but I can’t seem to keep them.

Came home last night and discovered that the Ecotech M2 return pump died. After swapping out the power supply, I’ve confirmed that it was the actual pump. So in my garage, I have aL2, M2, and 2xS2 in the junkyard!!! Luckily, I have a Jebao as a backup so we’re back online.

I do have 2 Red Dragon Eco 5 130W (from the 450gal) that I will repurpose for the frag tank. Just need to figure out the plumbing.

Guess I’m bored & lucky on Sat morning — the 1” thread on the Jebao fits exactly on the Red Dragon! Going to swap it out and I still have a backup. ;)

Ideally go two return pumps for redundancy but gotta re-do the plumbing in the back and honestly don’t have the energy today though.

All done - frag tank got a return pump upgrade to a Red Dragon Eco5 130W - more flow! Yay

I know - I did a lousy job last night with the pvc cement since it was temporary. Will redo that part when I’m super bored.

Not to start YARW (Yet Another Religious War) on controllers here but I’m in the process of converting my Hydros in the frag tank to Apex. In a year that I have the Hydros, it has given me zero issues! I don’t recall upgrading the firmware that much either. The Hydros got rock solid hardware but the UI is not optimal tbh. Anyway, my primary goal of switching from Hydros to Apex is to move the Trident & NP to the system with ease. Also, it’s much easier to manage one ecosystem vs two.

I’ve upgraded my 450gal’s controller from an Apex El to PRO this week; therefore, got an extra controller and PM1 module sitting around. Now to find an EB832 and probes to do the switch…

Tested the frag tank today to get ready for the grow-out contest.

Alk: 7.5dKH (manually dosed to get closer to 8dKH)
NO3: 15.8ppm
PO4: 0.08ppm

Dosing 3-parts is super simple vs balancing with calcium reactor for such a small tank.
