When setting up a reef tank, don't just plan where the tank itself will go. Take your time and map out the servicing components as well. Such as the rodi station and water change/mixing station. Will make life so much easier if maintenance is made super simple/easy.

Ps...oops, i thought this thread was to give the best piece of reefing advice we could share.

Open Thread. Lots Of People Don't Have The Space Or The Money Sometimes So I'm Showing It Can Be Done Correctly With Lower Start Up Cost Such As A Water System. I Had My 125 Crash Due To Getting Water From A LFS Which I Tested Regularly But Had A Metal That I Didn't Test.

never go on vacations; if you think you are gonna make money you most likely wont; dont care about names and lineage, buy what you like; Most girls want you to spend time with them, not your fish, so unless married or shes a fish nerd, loose the tank or be single.

Leaving the tank alone is never a good thing. I'm a fan of the apps on your phone for testing to stay ahead of problems down the line. But vacations are needed! Lol

My advisewhatever you think you will spend- quadruple it (at least 😂) and same thing regarding time…

don’t listen to the first piece of advise you get online- (not saying it’s wrong, just research and confirm first) I have received some great advise over the years from some awesome reefers- but also have received a few horrible advise. Not that the person(s) was trying to give bad advise- but we are all at different levels in this hobby. I can’t tell you how many noobs think they are experts after one or two you tube videos 😂

reefing is a crash course in patients. Nothing good happens fast.

most of all have fun- if it’s not fun most* of the time then what’s the point. I see people get so upset over issues (which I totally understand) but I think if you count on having issues, when they arise you can learn from them and don’t get discouraged or upset. Make a bad situation a good one by beating whatever issue your have and learning from it.

that’s it for now lol. Happy reefing my friends!

these may be good In a pinch or to start- but long term they will cost you more on filter media then bitting the bullet and getting a decent standard RO/DI system. Trust me- been there done that and don’t want to go back 😅. But for a budget reefer I think they can work.

It works well for the start of cost, definitely not sustainable long term, but it ran my 125 for 6 months with clean water that was better than any LFS and now that I've downgraded to a 25 Lagoon it's perfect. So maybe used for start up nano reefers!

You can get a decent md or brs 4 stage for $100 ish with filters. You should get 300-600 out of a. Di, and 3000 plus on carbon and sediment. Membrane lasts. 2 years. Plus
