Mandarins from biota are pretty dam small unless you get a larger size but the one's at the shop are maybe under an inch. I got a pair back in October at less than an inch and now they are both over the inch mark. They grow fast and eating pellets is always a win.

does your pair get along? mine are in a 14 gal nano and occasionally I notice the larger male would attack the smaller female. they get along 95% of the time

At the beginning the female was larger than the male. I sent the male to the sumo to grow a bit more and like 2 months later added him back. Now they are super fine with each other and occasionally swim in the day together. Each night they do the mating dance but they are still too small to actually breed. Still really cool to see tho

Did you have to spot feed them pellets? I was looking to pick up a pair
The one's from Biota already eat pellets since they are raised on them. You do need to use super small pellets like the TDO X-small pack for them to eat them. I through some pellets when I feed my fish frozen and the mandarins pick them off the rocks and the sand

Cool! Hopefully they'll have a pair when I visit
I've messaged them before and asked if they could save me a coral or two before someone takes it, most of the time they do it. Maybe that's an option for you?
