Bounces melted over the break...

Smelled it before I even got to my office room. Something went horribly wrong. Didn't take long to find out. I had left my zoas and shrooms in a large tray with a powerhead and heater over the break. Informed a coworker to keep the water topped up to the line I drew on the side of the tray for the first week, but failed to inform the others that were there the second week to do the same. Maybe the evaporation and salinity increase caused them all to panic and go nuclear.

Water was thick foggy white. Sunkist bounce and Dragon Lady bounce shrooms and the big elephant ear were nothing but a gooey smear on the bottom. Zoas/palys all angry. Bristleworms mostly dead. Moved the zoas/palys to a new tray with carbon and preparing a few water changes till they stop vomiting palytoxin.

Now I need to find who I got those shrooms from ~3 years ago and see if they have any more... Someone named Erin in Long Beach maybe? If anyone remembers, let me know! I really liked them.

that sux! I have a powerball bounce that's melting. tried moving it, dipping it, nothing seems to work. parameters have been stable and my other bounce mushrooms are doing great (especially jimbo's og). I'd be intrested in some shrooms too.

Unfortunately looks like half or more of my zoas/palys also melted. Tried to salvage what I could. Some polyps were still intact, so hopefully they open up again. Then will find out what I still have. Tossed a couple hundred polyps today :-(

Actually they probably would come back... I left a rock with King Kongs in a peroxide dip for over 24hrs because I forgot about it. Gooey mess... took a bit, a couple months, but they came back.

They are coming back from this one, unfortunately. I had to bleach the tub they were in, it was so rank. Glad it was a holiday and no one was in the office. My poor shrooms. Chatting with Jason on Friday, we speculate it might have been the trochus death (that I didn't know was in the tub) that set off the chain reaction. Basically a death bomb!
