I bought this bta long time ago (I don't remember when I purchased it but for sure, it is more than a year ago). I thought I had killed the gbta because I've never been able to found it. It turned out to be on the back of the aquarium. I noticed that my bta tentacle is short but it's not bleach. It hasn't hosted my clownfish pair. The Bta still attached its foot to a rock. I know bta is known to have bubble tentacle hence the name Bubble Tip Anemone and at the same time, it can have a long stringing tentacle. I couldn't take a good picture of the bta because 1) it is the back of the aquarium 2) the bta is facing to the back glass How can I have the bta to be long stringing tentacle or bubbling? Should I do anything special to the bta? Or should I leave it alone?

I've run this tank for more than 3 years and my tank size is 60 gallon with 20 gallon sump. My light is Chinese blackbox LED (SBreeflight) with 2 T5 blue bulb.

TIA

Yes give it a small piece of shrimp about half size of it’s mouth. If it takes it, good. If not try again another day, until it takes it or perish. Try to keep it in exposed light. If it crawls in the dark it will perish.

Sorry for the late reply..

Can I feed corals food? Like coralific delite and benepet? How often should i feed it? It is in the big rock and already has corals on it.

You should be able to get it to release from the rock. It’s probably weak from not being in the light. Can you pull the rock out of the aquarium?

If you feed your corals and fish there should be no need to feed the BTA. They can use nitrates in the water as a direct food source. They do not want zero nitrate or phosphates.i recommend at least 5-10 for nitrates. Anemones also like a lot of light. It is almost impossible to give them too much light,, just change it gradually. I would leave it where it is. It has survived a year there already. If it was that unhappy it would move on its own.

What are your water parameters? What is the flow like in your tank and where the anemone is located?

If you don't care to have it visible then I would leave it alone.

From my experience, they tend to move more dependent on the flow. You can redirect flow but you also risk it walking onto your corals.

I dont really care about the location. It just that I am worry about its short tentacle.

Sorry if you answered this question I’m to lazy to ready through the whole thread.
But what’s your water quality like? Anemones will usually hit if the quality is bad or if the anemone has an infection.
I would look close at pH, alk, no3, and po4. If any of those are off that may trigger the nem to hide in shade.
How stable is your alk?
Is no3 or po4 high?

If those are good then the nem could have an infection. Yes an infection nems can get infections. It’s kinda easy to treat tho. You just need to setup a qt tank and get a medication called Ciprofloxacin. If you google “treating nem with cypro” you will find lots of info on how to do it.

BTA are 95% water. They can extend, retract or bubble at different times in a day for a variety of mostly unknown reasons. They mostly contract at night.
They are fussy about alkalinity and do not like high alk or swings.

Good to now about the high alk. Didn't know that

No that’s not enough, they need meaty foods, you can supplement dips etc as far as nutrition.

They do not need meaty foods at all. I do not feed mine except for a short period as an experiment. There was no difference in their growth or health. My anemones grow very large( up to 14"), split frequently and are very healthy.
