i don't understand the drama with the beach bum monti...
he had 3 frags at MAX... one was the jason fox beach bm and the other two looked like it but grew with a pink rim... they didn't come from jason fox, and he said they didn't... he named them something else since it's a different coral... and out of nowhere, everyone was saying he's selling fake beach bums...? i was right there when he said it...

I asked Saturday morning about the Large frag and was told it was a Beach Bum, I asked if it came from Jason Fox and he said yes. I went back with a friend and we looked at it thinking to split it. A little later another friend said watch out Scott it is not the Jason Fox Beach Bum when I went back Cali Kid says to clarify this is the Cali Kid Beach Bum, but it looks the same. I moved on because while the Cali Kid had beautiful coral he has a ways to go to be Jason Fox dollar worthy in my opinion. I disagree about the names on high end pieces we are not talking $100 Ultra Strawberry Shortcake frags we are talking about a Beach Bum Monti frag he was asking $800 for. He also was bragging he had the biggest Walt Disney at the show. He had the best coral in the show and he knows how to take care of it, just needs to clearly get across what he is selling.
Funny you bring that up. From what I understand, TGC imports corals now so, most of those corals are similar corals, not from the same colony. Remember back when everyone had RR corals and they were all the same named pieces RR sells? Similar pieces from similar colonies not, the same colony. You can tell because one of their suppliers used concrete plugs shaped out of a shoe insert(not joking).
Lineage is kind of a joke if you ask me. What makes one coral worthy of a name and another, almost identical, piece not? All you buy is someones word that its legit.

Mr. Clown I have been in the business almost 7 years working for wholesale's as well as the GM for Titan Corals Wholesale. I am an honest person and would never rip a hobbyist off. My reputation speaks for itself and you obviously do not know me. I will not respond in the future to these kinds of posts as it does no good for the hobby.
To clarify we did also have a JF beach bum on Sunday at the show and I let Scott know myself BEFORE letting him purchase the Cali Kid beach bum that it was in fact our beach bum not JF that I was mistaken. As far as bragging that is not what I do if somebody tells me I have good looking coral I thank them and let them know I appreciate that.
Well that's your opinion on price tags... what makes jf corals any better? The fact he blasts his pictures under blue and photoshops them so people like you fall for his "high dollar" corals? Personally, I feel ben would be a better person to buy from since he takes his pics under full spectrum and still has nice color. But that's just my opinion and could careless if you like it or not. But I know ben and he wouldn't try to sell something under false pretenses. Go pay 800 for a jf coral and I'll get 2-3 corals for the same price from ben and have the same colors because well... you said he doesn't demand the jf prices....lol. good luck.
wow.....im very surprised that you are even posting a comment , specially when the story you were telling at MAX was that Ben informed you first that he made the mistake on the id...so not really lineage fraud if the vendor corrects himself from his mistake because you didn't catch it. I think that is being honest. I feel the whole story should be included. Not the story that tries to throw a new vendor under the bus. that does not help the hobby in any way. If there was a problem maybe you should of spoke to Ben, instead of going around and telling every one he is dishonest, and claiming lineage fraud. Maybe I expected more from you since you are a business owner and realize how hard it is now to be successful. It would be nice to see you in a retail store and not at the wholesalers for once.

I feel if you like it buy it if not , then you don't buy it. there's no need to point fingers or to try to tarnish some ones reputation. go to the J.F. page and buy it, if you are worried about lineage. Better yet speak to the vendor about it. I know going around max trash talking does no good for the hobby. Defiantly doesn't resolve anything and Will only bring promote ill will and bad mojo.
i think the issue is that the beach bum from the original sale post has the cali kid in the name just like the Cornbred My Bugatti, Jason Fox Burnin Banana Cornbred Atom Bomb,Cali Kid Sistine Chapel Shroom , Titan's Mad Hatter Micro Goni .... the walt disney thought didnt have any mention of lineage or name..just walt disney... there is only one walt disney out there that comes from Mike B Aquanaut.. so if you were releasing ur walt disney it would've been nice to have said that in your original post ..i buy on name bc those corals are proven and has the colors represented..thats y i asked if the ultimate rainbow passion was the same. .if a coral is a coral and lineage doesnt mean a thing if you like then just buy it mentality then maybe the cornbred jason fox should be replaced with cali kid.....
Robert I told you I thought it wasn't right at the show and you shrugged your shoulders and smiled. I was not going to say a word but a few days later the same thing on the Walt Disney, anyway as I said best coral at the show, but sell it on its own merits. Good luck with your business and read my post I did not throw anyone under the bus, and did say you told me that it was Cali Kid Beach Bum and you had made a mistake. Ellis $800 for a 1/2" x 3/4" frag sounds a lot like JF prices, 2 to 3 corals for the same price??? Lineage and Hype is part of this hobby and we all buy into it, and those that don't still pay for it. The WD from Aquanaut originally sold for $800 a frag and we all wanted it because of the crazy saturated pictures, is it worth any more than any other Acro? Yes because of the higher price it carries, why would a vendor pick the same name unless it was to get more of a premium for said coral???
really cause when you told me I was in the Lars Booth with a witness and we spoke about it for some time so lets be honest here .I even mentioned you should talk to Ben. Did I not? correct me if I am wrong. the piece's at the show for the price are larger than what you get from any of the vendors mentioned. When the Acro lineage came into to question Ben made sure that the coral wasn't sold. so again you are throwing a vendor under the bus. I call it like I see it Scott and always will
Hey guys, just to clarify, I sold Ben and Adam the WD, the coral is actually a RR ultimate rainbow passion, and was an honest mistake. I told him I would buy back the coral no questions asked as Adam and Ben are good friends of mine and wouldn't do that to anyone.
I take full responsibility for the coral and I'm not out to "trick" anyone just a honest mistake.
It was a miscommunication on my part to him.
I have no problems buying back the coral from them, or anyone if they bought it from them.
I've seen many "WD" and lineage is whatever to me. If the coral looks the same and came from same vendor it's the same thing. Just my 0.02. I'd put my RR ultimate rainbow against any WD. All about parameters.
