Can fish have allergies?

Weird question but can fish have allergies to foods? The reason I ask is because I had a purple firefish that was fine then after I fed my fish it went limp and started swimming like it was dying. Few hours later it was fine. It did the same thing a few days later and then died. Now I have a Bangaii Cardinal doing the same thing. I will feed it frozen Mysis that has been thawed out. It get some food and then all of sudden goes limp and just getting pushed around with the water current. Its fine before feeding. It has done this a4 or 5 times now in the past month. Anyone experience this?

I have 18 fish shouldn't it effect them all same way?

Bad food. Try a different one. The other fish likely have strong immune systems or good metabolism, but there is a bad chemical, likely, in what they are all taking in, and for whatever reason, those two are the easiest. Both of those fish are known for being quick to flop in poor conditions of any kind.

Sheldon the seahorse was allergic to water in Finding Nemo.

But in your case it is unlikely 2 different fish species has the same reaction to a food. Its more like the food poisoning weaker fish.

Out of curiosity what food were you using? Like what brand? Was there any off odors aside from the usual fishy smell?

Its a bag of Spirulina Brine and Mysis frozen. No weird odors or any different from the other bags I have had. Picked some frozen cubes of brine and fed today with no issues. Hoping something in the food is messing with the fish.
