Alright so I'm switching to a 30 gallon rimless I just bought. I'm using the same sand and rock and half of the water since I needed the other half or so to keep the fish n corals in another container. How long should I wait till I place them in the new tank. I was thinking in a week since I used half of the original water. Also should I start running the reactor with gfo? Or should I wait? Any suggestions?

how much are you upgrading from? I've moved from a 25 to a 40. Kept the sand, rocks, and water. Moved everyone in same day and I didn't lose anything. Just have to make sure to be careful when moving the sand because all that old stuff is going stir up. Also throw in some bottled bacteria to be safe. If you can wait a week I'm sure that would be even better. Good luck!!!

The tanks were around the same size. It's just the sand ended up getting really stirred up when I put the water in the new tank. I added bacteria to be safe. Ima try and be patient for a week to be safe lol

I went from 50 to 150 and added all fish and corals same day. I used most of the water and all 75# of live rock I had in the 50. I ditched the sand and add all new 150#s of sand to display and deep sand bed fuge. Not sure if it helped but the one precaution I took was adding a bottle of dr tims bacteria. Not a single fish death and only lost 1 sps that wasn't looking that hot to begin with. Good luck! I would stress over it.
