Are they eating each other? I kicked the chocolate few inches away the first time it was on top of the sand starfish. But about half an hour later, it was on top again. Should I be worried?

I’m fairly certain chocolate chip stars are carnivorous and not reef safe. Wouldn’t put it past him to munch on the sand sifter.

They are predatory stars. This is a well known fact, which always puzzled me with LFS who sold these. Why? It’s kind of like LFS who sell palys, wtf are you thinking? Sorry, it’s been a shitty week! Back to stars eating stars.

It's my fault, I thought starfish is gentle creature that only eats algae film on glass. Should have done more research before putting those two together. However, I did do research in sea urchin but this is what I got a few weeks ago. It is a purple sea urchin eating a snail. Had that returned and exchanged for a tuxedo one.

Most likely, as other mollusks are on the menu. Plus, these guys get huge. They’ll eat everything you want to keep, soft corals, sponges, clams, etc. They are 100% not reef safe.
