i think there's a lot of weird overlap in the smoothskin bottlebrush world

like take vivid insanity which this looks a lot like, no clue what that thing is. striata? echinata? subglabra?

That looks like subglabra to me. Think of echinata as “finer” branches and not as think, more delicate. Plus, the radial corallites of echinata are uniform and seem more like branches themselves. Subglabra has smaller irregular radial corallites that don’t extend that much, like in the pic.
