Just left Petco on inglewood ave and marine ave in Redondo beach. They have beginner corals- Kenya trees and Pom Pom Xenia - also sail fin tang $39.99
Coral beauty $39.99 hippo tang $109

And a lot of saltwater fish.

priced good- most don’t know this Petco sells saltwater stuff- I was surprised to see coral and nice fish there

I was talking to one of the guys who takes care of the fish and they have a purple tang for $200. He said after the fish have stayed there for 3 months the fish get marked down to 50%, after 6 months they got down even more. I'll probably be taking advantage of that

That's a horrible price even for petco.

I think any store that has a high turn over of fish that does not do a quarantine process is likely to have fish illnesses in there systems. ALL fish from anywhere should be properly quarantined. I don’t think Petco is more or less likly then any other fish store following same protocols. (Which is most)

all these fish basically come from the same places with exception of a few- anything from a wholesaler is just as likley to have ick- velvet- broke- etc.

I know the workers at this Petco- and they may not be experts (but who really is?) but they genuinely care and try there best within the parameters set fourth by there employer and the industry. We should be a little easier on them in my humble opinion.

a good fish keeper/ hobbits should QT all fish. If something infects your system- it’s not fair to blame the person selling you the fish for your inadequacy in regards to safeguarding your fish and having a quarantine process in place. If not your gambling With ALL fish purchases- no matter where you get them from.

Yeah, that’s nice that the workers are cool. The workers vary greatly from store to store in their saltwater knowledge. The main problem with Petco is that per their company policy and procedures, they are prohibited from using any of the medications and treatment that is proven to work. The cannot use copper or formalin. So any fish you buy is likely infected and has to be QT and medicated. If you don’t, you’re playing Russian Roulette with your current livestock.
