best practices I've seen in situations like this are use as much of your tank water as you can
I agree with reefes. I have done it successfully, but what I did was move livestock into sterile bare-bottom tanks with old tank water. When I lived in the city and needed to change apartments I would rent my new apartment one month earlier than I needed, just so I could set up temp tanks, move my livestock, and then break down and move my display tank.

Needless to say, always include live rock in your temp tanks, and if possible, it is best to put fish in a separate system if you can... or avoid feeding them as much as possible until they are in the new system.

Agreed more live rock and water you can bring over the better. Just be mindful of your parameters in the new tanks

Appreciate the Info from both of you guys. I will just breakdown one of my larger rocks in the sump.
