Damian's 150g build!

Good news guys! I cut the drains down in the sump and now the plumbing is quiet! The only thing I have to fix is the water trickling down the overflow. I guess I made the dursos too low.

Yesterday I came to the grim realization that my 48" t5 wouldn't fit in my canopy due to the thick power cord to the side. The fixture fits inside the tanks euro racing, but the power cord sticks out. So I might have to drill a hole in the canopy for the cord to exit.

We will see...

What about opening up the fixture and drilling a hole in the top. Re route the cord to come out the top or the back. Wouldn't be that hard. Well I've never tried to open up an led PM, but the Sunpower was super easy to open. Congrats on getting ur plumbing figured out

Ok. Now can I come by and check out ur tank?? Lol. I need to get some ideas for my new tank.

Let there be light!

The light was a pain to mount and it will be a pain to switch bulbs, but I was able to mount the fixture a little to the side and the cord fit, so no holes were drilled on the side of the canopy.

Room is a little tight under the light, but I'll manage.

Today I visited Coral Gazers for my bucket of Rowaphos and Coral+ bulb. My current T5 combo was too blue, so I hope an additional C+ will balance everything out. I talked to Chad about stocking the tank and we're gonna do three tangs. A purple tang, a powder blue tang, and a naso tang. I already bought the purple and I'm waiting for my tank to cycle. Can't wait!

Mostly SPS. Some rainbow acans and high end zoas if there's space for them. But mostly SPS.

I just removed the fixture to switch ONE BULB. That was a pain in the ***. I hope the coral plus balances out the look. Six blue+ was just too blue. I figure if it's too white, I can run the LED's as Blue+ and get the blue I want. Pictures in a few!

Well, the most boring part of the build....The cycle.

I've been dosing microbacter7 for a week and a half now and just dropped a few mysis cubes to make sure the cycle occurs.

In other news, my cube is ready to be torn down and upgraded! Grape caulerpa on top bryopsis on the right, aptasia all over. I won't be keeping any corals on plugs from this setup. Too risky.

I'm gonna do some testing today and see where I'm at. If all goes well, I can transfer the few fish from my 50g and nano. They're small fish. Four clowns and a starry blenny. I'm not gonna add the mystery wrasse to my new build for fear of aggression.

And I still gotta order my netting from BRS.

Just tested....0 ammonia and 2.5ppm nitrates, if salifert is to be believed.

What do you guys think? Can I add my four clowns and starry blenny yet?

Ok. The Apex is hooked up, all the programming has been transferred over. Now I gotta fill up due to evaporation and figure out the water level in my sump and adjust the gate valve. I'll be ordering an ATO container from John. I'm thinking 20g should be good enough and not take up too much space. Right?? I don't have a lot of room for the ATO either, else it'd be bigger. I can live with refilling up 15-20g a week.

Now, with all the refractometer talk lately, I'm a little afraid. My calibration solution is years old, and to be honest, I haven't calibrated my refractometer in over a year or more. Can I use RO/DI to calibrate it? Or do I need distilled water? Or what? I remember the instructions said specifically not to use RO/DI, but I seen a few of you guys use it.

What do you guys think?
