The full siphon should be 4-6 inches shorter then the other pipe. Is yours?

His is beananimal different then that.
Beananimal has three drains. First is a full syphon durso, no air line on top and a valve in the drain. Second is a regular durso with air line and no valve. This one is only slightly higher then the first 1/2"- 1" at the most. Lastly is a dry drain straight pipe. Thos pipe is only 1" aprx above the overflow waterline. If something were to happen and a clog were to happen the dry drain would take over and make a bunch of noise so you know there is an issue
I'm gonna check my heights, but the way I have it is the emergency durso is highest, with the airline is the second highest, the full syphon is the lowest.
OK. Different problem. Without sharing my thoughts, what do you think is wrong with my sump here? The fuge is to the far right, the return chamber is to the left. How do I fix this if I wanna keep the return on the same spot?

It kind of seems your overflow is not draining/matching your pump flow? Also maybe think about feeding your refugium from your drain and not how pump is plumbed. Send 75% thru socks and 25% thru refugium.....just numbers can be different. This way you feed your refugium non skimmed water. The water height at your pump area should be 1" below teeth or your set up isn't plumbed how you designed/build your sumpTop off water only matters when your sump is running right, how much evaporation are you losing a day doesn't seem like a lot with that size system?
I know your sump isn't running right NOW but when you get it going hope it moves faster than your video because too slow of flow has limited gas exchange and lower oxygen levels as you know![]()
Exactly. When the tank is running that's where the water should be at, but when off the sump should have more water in itEDIT: I guess the running water level should be where the water is currently is at when off?
The way John designed the sump originally was to have a drain at 25% at the fuge. But since I was doing a bean animal, I wasn't sure how that would fare so I Tee'd off the return pump into the fuge to provide flow to the fuge. The problem is that if the fuge ball valve isn't at almost 100% the fuge section will cascade down like a waterfall down into the return section from the overflow teeth to fill it, which causes a lot of noise and unnecessary flow into the fuge. If I set the fuge ball valve to almost 100% then the return section and fuge water level will level out, but there is just too much flow going into the fuge.
So I'm kind of stumped on what to do.
Do you guys think I need more water in my sump? I was hoping I didn't have to run it too high. But I'm not too familiar with this sump design yet.
