Hello- I’m DJ and I’m an addict
I’m from San Diego. I’ve been into reefing for going on 6 years. I have a 180g and 2 30g tanks plumbed together for one system (T5/LED) and 3 75g (LED) tanks plumbed together in another. I’m in the process of transferring the first system to the next so I can prep the wall where my current tank is for my CDA 96x36x26 peninsula, closed loop dream tank. The tank is ready but I’m not. I’ve lagged some but mostly don’t want to lose any of my corals during the process. I grow it all :) My 180 is a mixed reef SPS dominant. And in the 30s on that same system are my LPS and nems. Currently the 75s are holding some of my test corals but mostly a buddy’s livestock I am selling locally. I am involved in the SDR community but have decided to branch out and concentrate elsewhere. I am a tech geek so I’ve tinkered with a bunch of gear. I currently use GHL as a controller and a Mastertronic for testing. I love reefing for its complexity and many areas to focus on. Not many hobbies where you can dive into chemistry, biology, photography, husbandry, cutting edge tech & also exercise some diy enginuity. I have since an early age been drawn to symbiotic relationships and coral is the best example of it. The idea of 2 things working together for survival and building something bigger and more beautiful than they could individually is a concept I embrace. Anyway- that’s me and probably more candid than I’ve been on any other forum. Cheers & I look forward to being a constructive member.

Hey sure- I realized I don’t have any good FTS of the 180 so I’ll add those when the lights kick on but here are some of the 75s. There’s actually a funny story there where I was prepping a large tank (instead of the 75s) but then broke it trying to drill the bottom…. 67x48x18… of course it was tempered (duh) :) I included a pic of it- when that broke, I had to shift to something that would fit the stand hence the 3 75s.

Hi DJ.

I’m an addict too. 🤣

man, cool set up- looks like you know how to grow some corals lol. I totally agree, this hobby has so many things to learn and do- I’ve been in many hobbies and at some point it gets birding but not in reefing! That’s the beauty and curse of reefing- always interesting sometimes stressful but over all fulfilling. I can’t imagine life with out reefing at this point lol.

Welcome to the forum. And thanks for sharing my friend. Can’t wait to see more!

happy reefing.
