I know the levels are low on scripps nsw but Im breaking the bank on mag supplements just trying to raise the mag level to 1500. I believe without the supplement, mag leve is around 1100 or so. People who use scripps, are you guys even supplementing Mag? If so, is there a cheaper alternative for me then buying Sea Chem dry Mag. Thanks guys

I used Epsom salts. I recently bought some mag chloride from TwoPartSolutions. It's not too expensive. Epsom salt is dirt cheap and I don't buy the theory that it is bad for your tank. I haven't seen any real evidence of it.

I was reading that Epson salt will rapidly build sulfate levels in your tank if you do not keep up with your water changes..Ill see if I can find the article

I was told that it would be very difficult for the sulfate levels to rise too high unless you are doing something wacky. I was also told the when you use magnesium chloride instead of magnesium sulfate, it is better. Chlorides are supposed to be safer. All I know for sure is that I have seen several very mature, beautiful tanks that have been dosed with epsom salts for years and they have no negative effect.
