I have been dosing Brightwells Coralaminos lately. It took about 2 weeks to see a difference but, my corals have seemed to color up a bit. I also notice my LPS corals deflate and "poop" more regularly now that I am feeding the aminos. I run a low nutrient tank and carbon dose to keep it that way. Since I am on top of my nutrients to keep them low I am able to keep on top of weather or not to increase or decrease the aminos or carbon dosing. I brodcast dose the aminos by hand when I feed my fish. I have considered autodosing the aminos but would switch to Acropower if I did start auto dosing.
A few issues when auto dosing amino products is that they can spoil because they are protien based and they can fall out of suspension if not shaken/mixed regularly. This can cause issues when hooked to a doser long term. Aside from keeping the solution in the dosing bottle fresh and well mixed you also have to flush the dosing lines regularly to keep from growing bacteria in the lines. This seemed like to much a PITA and took the convenience out of auto dosing for me. So for this resaon I just dose it by hand. It is not that hard takes less than 30 seconds and if you miss a dose or 2 here or there it really dosen't matter. The corals don't need to eat every single day since they derive most of their nutrition from photosynthesis.
There are also some pretty good frozen food blends available that have plenty of aminos present in them like LRS Reef Frenzy, RodsFood complete reef, and Hikari Marine Cusine. FWIW I get a feeding response from all of my corals almost immediately when I put Rod'sFood in the water.
Probably more info than you needed but, in a nutshell this has been my experience with dosing aminos.
