so i have been having some high PH i think due to adding a lot of Kalk to the tank in an attempt get my Ca up. i looked all over the internet and found a very cool article on the causes and cures to high PH. one of the ways it suggested to lower the PH is to add soda water to the tank. this make sence because all soda water is is purified water and CO2. the Co2 lowers the alk in a tank without changing much else. not sure how long the effect will stay but its worth a try to me. the article suggested that 6ml per gallon will lower the ph by 0.4, so to be safe i added 3ml per gallon and waited 20 minutes to test the water. im using the stupid color chart so i cant tell exactly how much it lowered but it seems to have droped just a little. i went ahead and added the other 3ml per gallon for a total of 6ml per gallon. tested again and i can tell that it appears to be lower the ph ever so slightly. it kinda looks like it dropped from 8.8 or so to maybe 8.2 or so, again the color chart thing is hard to tell. the coral and fish are all fine and not showing any distress. i am going to test again later to see if i feel the ph is holding or not.

i think this is worth looking into more, or at least anyone who getts ph spikes can keep this in mind. if anyone has those cool PH probes maybe they can tell us how much it really drops. here is the article.
