I haven't seen this posted here, so here it is...
I was getting frustrated with hard green algae on my acrylic aquarium. I used different tools and my fingernail, but it was an exercise in futility. Then I found out about the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It is cheap, easily available and works great. I cleaned my entire tank which had the algae diffusely proliferated throughout the acrylic aquarium in just a few minutes. It is supposed to be safe for the reef. Here is where I found out about it. I hope this helps someone.
EDIT: By the way here is the original post. It is reported to be reef safe, but only get the original Magic Eraser.
