hi guys, how do i clean my dirty filter socks?

i would just hose mine down, some people throw them in the washing machine, other people keep them in a bucket of water if your going to wash them later so the junk doesnt dry up on there making it easier to clean when you do do it.

washing machine with no soap by the way...

as a service guy,i wash over 50 of them a week
-turn them inside out best u can
-rinse off the solids with a hose
-throw them in the wash machine with 2 capfuls(not Cups) of plain unscented bleach
No soap
-let them air dry,no dryer
hope this helps ,i wash about 10 at a time this way
been doing it like this for many years

i use a pressure washer and wow! They get CLEAN. I let them air dry. But I honestly dont use socks unless Im adding some type of protein remover additive to my system. I just run the skimmer for the most part of my reef cleaning

+3 on pressure washer, nothing works better, and it's fast!!! air dry!
+1 on not letting them dry, keep it in a bucket of water!

Just pull inside out, then pressure wash, the pull back out, and do other side.

Aren't you concerned about residue soap in the washing machine and potentially in your tank.

some older washers may have issues.any concerns about residual soap,just wash some old towels first.
without soap just bleach
