Damn lost my first fish today from it jumping out of the tank.. Didn't see my diamond goby for a day so went looking and found it behind my tank on the ground... not sure how it got out unless it went through the grate.
It could be that the fish got scared when a door nearby was slamming shut causing a powerful vibration that spread throughout and permeated onto the tank stand. Our ears detect sounds as vibrations, it could have also been caused by a loud sudden noise coming from a sound system.

Sorry about the fish, but I consider all fish jumpers. Eggcrate isn’t a very effective lid for several reasons. If a fish’s head can fit through the opening, the rest will follow.
that's how I lost my first fish. I use a glass lid that covers 95% of the tank with small gaps for wires, light mount, and air. Still found the yellow watchman goby dried up the next morning. Been in the tank for less than 24 hours.
