For the next 30 days new members who post in the forsale post and also don’t contribute to non sales post will be banned and those with more then 10 post but are not active will have account deactivated!!! We need to cull spammers who create new accounts, so try to make 50 post of something reef related. Tell your reef buddies if they haven’t logged in. Thank you.

Does that include new member who just want to browse, learn and buy corals? I am new to the hobby and my knowledge is limited

Don’t post a thread in the For Sale section a d you are good.

This is to cut back on all the new members who do not follow forum prerequisites for selling items here. A lot of people basically join the forum just to sell. The selling forum is intended for participating members to sell, trade and give. This cuts down on scammers and also helps support members/businesses that financially support/sponsor SCR.

Sounds kinda like a good idea.

But personally I haven’t seen much new member sales post. Sure there’s a few here or there and some are just honest mistakes. But I’ve met a couple of those and while they might’ve started in the marketplace they could potentially be great contributors.

Is there a way to ban them from posting in just one forum? I can see how honest mistakes can potentially ban good members.

As for scammers and spammers, those folks are easy to spot and there’s enough people calling them out very quickly. Perhaps having more moderators to ban just those would be a good alternative. In case we ever allow new members to post again.
