I have only been using carbon but now I'm ready to take on GFO. Any suggestions will help. I been doing a lot of reading to get this perfect.

1. I googled "GFO" and there was an argument of Ebay GFO. Guess only two companies make it in the US and they all seem to be the same but different prices. Has anybody tried the ebay GFO and will it work as equal to BRS HFO?

2. What brands are best and what do you use?

3. I heard its good to use a phos sponge for 48hrs then use the reactor GFO? Anybody know the reason why? Got this from Mr. Saltwater Tank sone episode are informative others he is just trying to sell you products.

Number 3 makes sense. Using a phosphate sponge to slowly reduce the phosphates first, reducing the chance of user error and rapid phosphate removal when putting the gfo online for the first time.

Not necessary but a good suggestion.

Side Question, anyone use the TLF with the BRS GFO? If so, how did you setup the TLF? Will the black sponge stop the GFO from getting out?

Ive had luck with BRS GFO in a Innovative Marine MiniMax All-In-One Media Reactor in my 25 gal rear sump nano. I only use GFO when I need it.

Are you a vendor? For the BRS reactor and media? I want to run carbon, GFO, and Bio-pellets consecutively since they come with ball valve I could link them but what order should I place them in and what pump? Would a MJ1200 be able to link them all three?

You can run gfo carbon and biopellets together. However don't run them off the same pump.

Pump 1: carbon then gfo.

Pump 2: biopellets. Don't run all 3 off 1 pump. Pellets need enough flow to keep them tumbling and to prevent clumping while gfo needs just enough flow to get the top layer tumbling. Anything more and the gfo can turn to dust

I would run a separate pump for the bio pellets to make sure u are able to get enough flow into the reactor to get the pellets to tumble properly and what reactor would you be running for the bio pellets, we carry/ sell BRS products reactors carbon gfo I would allocate my reactors and filtration resources to meet my bio load

Okay makes sense time to start planning.

BRS doesn't have a reactor for biopellets?

I put the outlet of the reactor into the bottom of my filter sock. So any GFO particles that exit the reactor stay in the filter sock.
