Looks like going to be over 100+ this weekend, and I think in my area, it’s hitting 105 on Sunday. Crazy hot. Hope there isn’t any rolling blackouts as everyone cranks up their AC. Does the power company usually send out a text to alert customers if power goes out?

What you guys have set up to keep the tank and yourself cool?

i think you have to sign up for that. If there is a black out, youll probably have to do a generator if its for a long time.

Might not be a bad idea to keep a generator around. What size or brand is good? does it matter?

I have a Honda EU2000i (newer models are the EU2200i) I've had to pull it out on several occasions over the last couple of years. $1200 new but you used to be able to get them between $500-$750 used. Yamaha makes a comparable one for a similar price. The engines in them are pretty bullet proof. I've had mine for 15 years or so and i've only changed the oil in the thing twice.

Small caveat, I use it on a monthly basis at the race track for tire warmers.

Regarding keeping the tank cool, i have an inkbird dual temp which will flip fans on. Dual fan setup on the 10 gallon and a larger single fan on the 20. They work pretty well.

Running the AC 24/7 during the summer. Also, I have a portable AC unit in case I need it.
