I bought some corals at the OC show yesterday. The beginnings of a reef tank. I'm finally filling in some pieces...way more to go but I'm happy with the progress! Now just starting to look for fish. What are the best places to buy? I'm looking for a bristletooth tang... maybe a kole? Any suggestions where there's a good healthy selection locally?

I try to be purposeful in everything I do in the tank. I (we) know that some things can have long term consequences like encrusting corals, coral warfare, etc. There's also color dispersion/separation, lighting requirements for specific corals, etc. I'm not perfect but just really try to think things out and do my best.

8 month check-in: Tank is finally "starting" to mature. I haven't had great growth for most corals but I know it has to do with stability...which I've been battling. Starting to get alot of coraline algae finally...which is a good sign. I've been dealing with a few weird parameter swings lately but I think I've finally got it dialed in. Boy, this hobby can be frustrating at times! Things are cruising smoothly for months and THEN... things get sideways for no apparent reason.

I just wanted to update this thread. I hope ya'll are enjoying your tanks!
