I have a Chromis I've been after for a little while and finally got him/her. Built a trap yesterday and it's gone......... To the sump.
Not mean. Just hungry hungry hungry. It's sort of a freak too. Enlongated with big eyes and it's lips look like Octomoms. I feed from my sump through the return, and that thing would go from return nozzle to return nozzle devouring everything insight. Meanwhile the other fish would just cruise around the tank eating dust.
So yippee for me!

It does feel good. All though in doing so, I added about three days worth of food in about an hours time to do it.

I made one out of some cheap acrylic. Used an old mangnetic glass cleaner to hold it in place at the surface. With hood open and net at the ready. Dropped in floating pellets. When the right fish swam it I put the net at the opening and bingo! Got him.

I have discovered square is better than round for a trap. I also have seen Beanie baby cases that would be perfect for a trap. That is what I modeled my trap after.
They can be bought for about 8 bucks. They're a clear acrylic box with lid. I still plan on getting one because I have an idea.

One thing I like about doing it the way I did it was that I don't catch fish I don't want. They swim in and swim out until the right one does go in.

Thats so true. I always catch everyone else 5-6 times before I can catch the "one".
