Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I am a college student who just became addicted to this great hobby of reefkeeping. I first set up a 10 gallon at the beginning of the school year last September and have taken care of it like it was my baby ever since. In that tank I have two ocellaris clownfish, a CUC, zoas, mushrooms and a sweet GSP frag I picked up from my LFS for cheap.

Recently I just set up a DIY 5.5 AGA with a sump built into the tank. I got the design from tanks I saw from reefcentral built by danoreef, sandeep and giga. It has just finished cycling and I am currently working on stocking it. I have a yellow clown goby, scarlet hermit crab and a couple of snails. I want to turn the 5.5 into a soft coral haven with a ton of zoas, ricordias and a few other corals. If you have any cool frags you would like to send my way I would appreciate it :D.

Besides that I am a pretty laid back person who is always willing to learn about this hobby. I seem to learn something new everyday whether it is from reading something on the internet or personal experience.

You can either upload your pix into the gallery here or link them from a photo hosting site. If you use a hosting site, they usually have a link for posting on forums. Well, at least they do on Photobucket.

Welcome, Kevin!

There is always SO much to learn, and there are definitely a lot of knowledgeable folks here that can help you.

Curious: what's the total water volume of your system? Please keep in mind that smaller tanks are much more difficult to care for, so make it a point to stock SLOWLY and also no not OVER stock.

Just let us know if you have questions...

And, again, welcome!

The total water volume of the tank is 5.5gal. I understand that smaller tanks (nano/pico) are harder to take care of. I do weekly 20% water changes to keep the water in good condition and always keep and eye on the water level topping off whenever it is necessary, pretty much everyday. I do not plan on keeping a lot of live stock in the tank. Right now I have a yellow clown goby, a scarlet hermit crab, an astrea snail and a nassarius snail. That is pretty much all the livestock that is going into this beast. I plan on keeping soft coral in the tank, mainly colorful zoas and rics.
