There has been a lot of hype on this Nitrate tester. I use Hanna testers due to accuracy and ease but this one seems like a few too many steps.

It is not as simple as some of the others out there like the Salifert.

Of course accuracy is important but in the case of Nitrates does it really matter if one reading is 1.5 and another where you have to try match a color is a bit higher or lower.

Just wondering what others have to say on this.

Accuracy in testing nitrate is not as crucial as Alk or Phosphate. For me ease and time are huge factors in choosing which test kit to use because if it takes too long or has too many steps, the frequency that I'll test will be less. I test Alk, Ca, Mg, NO3, and PO4 every 7-10 days. For NO3 I use Salifert and API just to make sure I'm within my desired parameters.

ive got a pretty good process down when i test now. test in this order

no3, po4, alk, mag, ca. by the time i'm down w/ CA, the NO3 is ready for me to check where it's at. i test PO4 second because the hanna timer is a ready way to know if i've mixed the alk, mag enough to proceed to next step
