Curious if anyone has seen any small/medium Desjardini Sailfin Tangs around lately? I‘ve been looking for over a month now with no luck. In addition to that, what shops in the SoCal area have the largest livestock selection? I’ve been out of reefing for a few years and notice a lot of shops went under. Tong‘s seems to be the only one with a decent fish selection that I know of.

It's hard to be Tong's for fish selection but if you're in that HB area hit Seaside Tropical fish. They also have a very good selection of fish and get a lot of tangs in.

I’ll have to give them a try again, I used to stop by there years ago. Unfortunately in the IE the only place with a decent size selection is pet world in San Bernardino, but they are pretty pricey. Was on an all day fish search today lol. Picked up a blue tang, and a diamond goby from pet world and a flame hawk from tongs today. Those went into the QT today. The next plan is to try to add the sailfin, purple and a gem at the same time as a trio if I can find them all at once.

Nice. Tong's had the gems but I heard seaside had them on sale for their weekly special. Still $400 bucks, but when a yellow is $300, what the hell? Get the gem ! I went the cheap route and got a scopas, but I actually really love a healthy and happy scopas. They're an underrated fish in my book.

Great tang list, best bet all at once with the purple and gem. I'm at Tongs and seaside often, If is see those all at once I'll shoot you a pm .

Yea, I think the only chance of getting the purple, gem and sailfin to work would be adding them small and at the same time. My qt is a 40 gallon and I have egg crate ready to section them off if need be. They had 2 gems today but they looked rough, so I figured no point in pulling the trigger if the sailfin and purple weren’t available. I like scopas as well but I think 4 tangs is my limit on gambling right now lol.

i had pisces in rancho get me a couple fish, then he randomly wasted my time and kept one of the fish i wanted for himself, but he was at least willing to go get specific stuff

ocean aquatics goes to the la wholesale places frequently if you can stomach them

harry's might be worth a trip if you can hit them before one of their live sales or whatever they do these days

ocean devotion is in la and should be able to get anything

I guess I’ve been out of the hobby for too long because I don’t know of any of these places lol. I just looked up Pisce, but where is ocean aquatics and Harry’s?

Reef Factory is a new store that opened up a couple months ago, I have placed orders with him and brings them for me. He had a gem tang that as 1 1/2, smallest gem I've seen

Tongs and seaside had one. Looks to be an older customer trade in not the great looking condition. But as for younger ones both stores said they haven’t seen any come in lately

I bought my desardjini tang from pet world. I think I paid $80? It's thriving well after 4 months. Eats like a pig!!
