ReefNoob714 is here...learned about this forum and Tapatalk from classictint (awesome guy) during a purchase.
I started out with freshwater Koi pond and ventured into saltwater November 2017.
I saw an amazing established 80g set up from a SoCal reefer wanted to get out of the hobby. I bought it without doing any research -bout reefing.
1st bad experience: I managed to kill all the corals (there were many) and years of good coralline within a week. I was going to call it quit until I noticed 2 colony of duncan survived. I spent the next few months learning the basic then managed to get ahold of a few softies and fishes.
2nd bad experience: Summer 2018, heat wave killed all my corals. Again, I was going to call it quit but the 2 Duncan colonies survived.
Again, back to basic and still learning. Since November 2017, picked up new Kessil lighting, new HOB skimmer, new return pump, new heater, new powerhead, and turn my sump into filtermat and bio balls filter.
Still battling keeping a healthy and balance tank. Tire for sure but enjoying the experience.
Will post up some pics of current set up soon.
