ok so i left like a single Aiptasia and Manjano in the tank when i set it up because i was lazy and now they are every where!! they are stinging so corals and pissing me off and i want them dead. i have used peppermint shrimp before for Aiptasia but i currently have a coral banded shrimp and i think they will fight????.... maybe?? i don't really know any fish that i can put in there because its a 60g sps/lps reef tank. the other little buggers (manjano) i have no idea what eats those.

i am not giving away rock to all you nudibranch breeders... and i cant afford to buy those easily killed nudibranchs at 15 a pop... any advice????

fuge.....they work even better then macro algaes since they're pests...theyre only a pain if u let them get to that point...which u did lol

I don't think it would hurt to try, but they are 6 bucks a peice so still an expensive snack. I think berghia wouldn't stand a chance to your banded shrimp, at the least the peppermint could escape a bit more easily. I would try those first. Maybe get rid of the coral banded shrimp if your not attached? I don't think the peppermints will eat the majanos though will they?

although this is a good theory would being connected to your main tank allow them to proliferate through the rest of the system?

oh and not sure what you mean they work better than macro because they are pests? Please explain I'm curious.

Put them in a net breeder u get at petsmart..spores cant get through...majano and aptasia are pests becausr they are invasive species...invasive species will out compete all macro algaes to get most of the waters nutrients to keep themselves happy....their rapid budding makes them more effective because that means more surface area to volume contact which allows more nutrients to be absorbed...majano will grow faster than any macro...just like aptasia grows faster than any coral so they can survive...kinda like what happened when calurpia got into the ocean...basically the same thing

manjano's are a lot easier to erradicate than aiptaisia. I've killed them with kalk paste. But I like peppermints cuz they don't die like nudibranches. I had one peppermint for a couple years and never saw aip's in that tank.

I have had the opposite when trying to eradicate them in the past. I will rather choose to get rid of asptasia any day as I just like to use peppermint shrimp.

The trick is not to feed your tank to where the shrimp get the food because then after they will not go for the aptasia.

aptasia file fish, i got one and haven't seen any so
I used to recommend these also, but mine never touched my aips and decided that my zoas tasted better, so it is no longer with us...

I have heard many recommendations on peppermint shrimp working, though mine never did. That would be my recommendation. As bean mentioned they are like $6( saw them for $4 somewhere recently) so definitely worth the try. Just feed your fish super lightly as once they get a taste for real food, they will not touch your aips, which is why I think mine never did since I feed heavily...
