Just wanted to introduce myself and my current tank.

I've been in this wonderful hobby since 2017. I have always been Interested in coral reefs and saltwater tanks because of their amazing colors. I got my first tank from a neighbor in my apartment complex for free! She didn't have time for it as life gets in the way. It was a 29 gallon coralife biocube. A couple clown fish and watchman goby with some soft leather corals. Only thing I had to do is bring it back to life. My go to shop was Coral Gazers in tustin at the time and Luis helped me out a lot. That set the tone for what would become one of my main hobbies.

Since then I have rehabilitated 13.5 fluval which was full of cyano. Upgraded to a CDA 100g which was amazing for a few years and onto my current set up 270g. Which was giving to me by a family friend who was traveling too much to take care of it.

First day of the CDA 100g

Some of the last days of the CDA. Lost all the sps during the move to the 270. My fault

As you can tell I haven't actually cycled a tank. They have all been established and for thr most part in bad shape. I loved getting them back into shape.

My current set up is a 210 display and 60g sump nothing fancy. Mixed reef which I am starting to get into more SPS.

Fist day of the 270g

Desperate times for the purple tang. Getting bullied.

Display is 72lx24wx29h

Lights (2) hydra 32hd (1)hydra 26hd (2) quanta pro bars. Meso blue and Reef Crest

Sump has a bubble magus filter roller asm g3 skimmer and a jaebao dc15000 return pump
I have a rowaphos reactor which I barely use now.

Flow I have (2) gyre 250

I'm located in walnut so if anyone needs help let me know. My instagram is the same username so stop by and say hi.

Look forward to meeting you all.

I was trying to upload more pictures of the tanks. I might need to get better service where I am at on mobil.

Welcome

Welcome! It’s funny how quickly we go from 20g to 200g in this hobby…
lol... yep over the last couple decades I went from 29, 60, 180, 60 now at 280... When I got the 280 (6x2.5x2.5)... It went into the same place I had the 180..... told my wife it was the same as the 180 (6x2x2)... she still keeps saying that it bigger then the last tank that was in that spot... shes not wrong. but 280 sounds so much bigger then 180... it was just easier that way.

i had been In the hobby for decades and went into full recovery for about 7 years without a tank. A BC29 was my downfall probably 6-7 years ago. Now I’m at a 225 SPS dominated tank.

ASM skimmers work great, nothing fancy but the get the job done. Seems like you are on the right track.

I remember when I started with the JBJ 24 all in one definitely a really nice tank for starters. Hopefully you can load some pictures of your current set up soon.

Welcome! Starting with established rock/sand is always the best way to go. Quanta Pro bars rock! I love my meso blues!
Yea its kinda weird. I see most people starting from scratch and cycling and thinking inreally don't want to wait. You learn real quick when you try to move fast in this hobby and things go downhill.

The biocubes are definitely gateway drugs in this hobby. The that skimmer is still doing its thing from the original owner. He got it from Jimmy at reef lounge. I want to say 10 years or so. 225 sps sounds like a dream. I am just a big fan of both sps and LPS. Can't decide to go one way or the other.
