add garlic to the food... or just leave it alone until it gets used to the tank. it'll eat when it's hungry. if not, it's a gonner anyway and nothing you do is gonna make him eat.

My local fish store is a "reputable shop", however, they will sell wild caught fish that are just in and are not eating yet. I always ask. They will hold any fish for me until they have them eating, and will feed them pellets while i watch to see them eat. I would also check your nitrate level, if your nitrates are high you'll have trouble getting wild caught fish to start eating in you tank. best to let your LFS acclimate them to prepared foods.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS watch it eat before you bring it home. If you want it to eat, there is never an exception to this rule. Some fish just don't acclimate well. Some need very mellow time before they're introduced to a display with other fish. Let the LFS eat it if a fish isn't healthy.

chevron tangs usually go for frozen mysis or mini mysis. I've been through too many chevrons and their problems, but the one I have now ate right out of the bag. from my experience, if they don't eat within the first couple of days, they just end up dying even if you cloud the tank with food

You should always QT a new fish to get it to eat prior to adding to a DT. Especially such a beautiful and expensive fish as a chevron. I have a chevron and it eats like a pig.

Any fish that is new to a shop has come from the wholesaler, is pretty stressed and is carrying tons of disease. Getting it in a safe place without any stress will help the fish to survive.

I bought A Blond Naso about a week and a half ago, and he would not eat. I tried everything and didn't have any luck. My LFS suggested cilantro :conf44:. The owner mentioned that he sees it all the time at the wholesalers. I tried it last night, and he mowed on it! Has anyone else heard of this?
