hi, my name is chun. 20 years old. From Long beach Cali. and i have had a FO tank for about 3 years until my heater of my 20 gallon tank malfuntioned and fried my tomato clown and lemon peel angel up real good. well, i am starting a reef tank right now inspired by my cousin but i needed a lot of pointers so i am hoping members of this website can help me create a sucuessful reef tank. I currently have some bottom polyps, some mushrooms, and a Green star polyps. And my green star polyps seem to turn a little brownish. but the coral seems to be healthy. hope someone can tell me why. I am planning to get some kind of solution to remove some of the phosphate. would it help. Thanks again for letting me join the site. and wish u a merry christmas soon.

welcome to the site. what type of lighting do you have? thats a key thing to coral keeping its color, as well as water quality. have you tested ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate? ammonia and nitrite should be 0, nitrate <20ppm. let us know what your lighting is, and a tank pic would be awesome as well, we like pics here!
