Have many friends with ich
i started a similar thread on a different forum about a year ago seems like many people were having ich the same time a year ago as well

Yes i know people get it all year long but im thinking this is from the wild mass breakout infecting anyone thats buying fish now

How many people currently have ich

What do you do to treat and avoid ich


Quarantine?
Feed well? (treat it like a cold)
Buy from a store that....

Buy from a reputable store and quarantine.

Quarantine with copper or chloroquine phosphate is the only surefire way to cure a fish of cryptocaryon. I QT everything wet and assume that everything has something regardless of where it came from. Cleaner fish and shrimp do nothing for it as the white spots you see are not the parasite. It's the skins reaction to the parasite burrowing into the skin, the actual parasite is not visible with the naked eye.

However if you already have ich and the thought of removing all fish and doing QT is a bit daunting you could opt to practice ich management. Essentially just doing everything you can to boost the fishes immune system. Feed quality frozen and live foods, provide a low stress environment with compatible inhabitants etc.
