the first video is the best 3 second video on youtube...

the worm doesn't look like anything that is known to be bad in our reef... it actually looks like a feather duster worm... is there a feather duster on the other side of the rock...? if you feel un easy about it, get rid of it...

Thanks gumbii. The first one was just to show all the little tiny things swimming in front of the rock. I have a longer video but my upload speed on charter is horrible. The second one has no feather duster its a worm like thing with teeth that comes out like that at night.

teeth...? get rid of it... might be a eucinid (sp?) worm but you just can't see it's face... or wait, don't those have lots of legs and stuff...? the first video might be copepods, but you never know... could be some pods, or maybe some shrimps spawned... i dunno....

Well the second one has that large body that has a smaller tube that comes out. When the smaller tube retracted into the large body the circular opening looked like it had teeth. If I can get a face shot tonight Ill post it.

i've seen some worms that when they get hurt, they split into a bunch of other worms with mouths... then they swim and hide in other places...

take the rock out if you can...

hot water maybe... like, boiling hot water... but no, i don't think it will die like that... do a worm trap... squid, nylon stocking, and leave it there over night... watch it once it goes for the meat, then pull it out...

but, be warned... you'll be surprised how many worms you will pull out that way...

When you say "teeth" do you mean all around the outer edge? Does it open
them up and then close them scraping stuff off the rock? I have had something like this and it just seems to graze around the hole it lives in (if it is the same). It doesn't seem to hurt anything. How big would you say it is?

Kinda but I think it may not be teeth after all as they seem to get longer almost like tentacles.

The first are tiny mysis shrimp and the second is scary just get rid of it.
LOL Joe! I think I am safe I am pretty certain this is a peanut worm. What I want to know now is how the hell did I get mysis shrimps in my tank? I only feed with frozen mysis.

i think i have the same worm in my tank. i would only see it at night and it was always in the same spot. it had a long tube like thing that would reach pretty far and if i put the light on it it would shrink back up into its hole. its white and moves just like yours. i have had it in the tank for about 5 months so far that i know of. i have not had any problems though so i guess its reef safe. when i set up my new tank i moved all my rocks over and he cam along with it. i just saw him a weeks ago. i dont recall what rock he comes out of anymore. and most of the time i just see his body "reaching" out for whatever it is he eats.
