I've seen answer from 75-85 degrees. I try to keep mine around 77 but with this hot weather Ive been having it go up to around 81-82 in the day and back down to 77 at night. Whats a ideal temp?
and fish are more prone to stress with a swing like that. Get a controller and a chiller to control your temp. I use controllers on all my tanks and keep them at a steady 78.1 24-7
If you can try to keep it closer to 77-80 you will be better off. Like everyone says a fan over it will help move heat away but will also cause you to have to top off more often.
Having the fan 5ft away won't really do much. The point of the fan is to increase evaporation, which in turn causes the water temp to drop. Try something like this:
You don't want your temperatures varying like that, if its a reef tank, aim for around 78-80, if its a fowlr, you can go a lot colder depending on what regions the fish come from.
