I am planning to get the IM EXT 200 peninsula

Im just wondering if i do the complete reef system or get my own sump plumbing etc, its about a $800 price difference

Mainly because I want a reef mat, if I were to do the complete reef, I was thinking of taking a dremel to the sump and just cutting out the filter sock portion

Only thing about getting a different sump is that most sumps out on the market with similar foot print is at least $500 then I would still have to buy the plumbing and return pump

what are your guys thoughts?

I haven't looked to aftermarket sumps, but might be easiest to find a sump with a removable filter sock holder. Then you could probably replace the sock holder with a custom piece of acrylic that would fit your desired roller mat.

Issue with those is that they’re ridiculously expensive since they’re all acrylic

Most around this price range and they’re not as big as the IM, honestly leaning more towards the IM and just modifying it

I would probably get the IM sump and modifying to fit the reefmat. Probably get a better deal. Maybe call IM and see if they have something already going to fit the reefmat.

I didn't know there was such a long lead time 4-6 months for an IM tank.

I wanted to plumb a reef mat 1200 into it, anybody know how I would do that? It’s a bean animal overflow so it has 2 drains or do I just stick to the filter wool?

They had their tanks on sale at the beginning of the year, not sure if they sold out or something. I ordered the IM 40L AIO on Feb. 18th, and I'm not due to receive it until late April. But that will give me time to cycle the rock while im waiting

They have the smaller tanks regularly in stock up to 100g, but after that theyre all considered mto tanks.

My tank technically cost cheaper than the 100g lol

I have the IM 150 EXT complete set-up I don't use filter socks I use the acrylic cups and these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDGFSDX7?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I also purchased a zippered laundry bag and throw them in the washing machine with a little bleach every week. I also use this on the plate the sits above the acrylic cups https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DFGAPG4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 just another idea for you.
Ooh, nice find! Those remind me of the Sera crystal filter balls, but cheaper. They're perfect for the filter media cups. Thanks for sharing! Btw, I want the 150ext, those dimensions are awesome!
