If not for setting up this new tank i would be done with the hobby the past 2 weeks have really been a
. first i have a hair algae bloom idk where it came from and it doesnt look like its going anywhere anytime soon... po4 levels are not high either... then my ice fire colony died and my purple monster too:bawling:... my mysterywrass decided to jump and my rbta wanted to go for a spin in the vortec... next my clowns must have been heart broken about loosing their nem and they died everything is in line in my tank but like what did i do wrong must have cut some one off or something... today i got home and my very first sps piece i ever have last was totally gone i have had it for over a year and i came home to skeleton :'(
my raspberry sherbert died too... im soo ready to quit right now if that tank was easier to get out and rid of i would be i cant afford to replace all the things i lost either it sucks i will only have skeletons of the once nice corals i had...

thanks for letting me vent and if you see my stuff listed up forsale you will know why.

i've thought about that a couple of times... but i think i'm to the point of no return... i have a box full of dead acro colonies and frags... sometimes some corals aren't for everyone... or maybe the hobby just isn't for anyone...

get another hobby... no biggie... good luck eric...

well... that means this shouldn't be your main hobby...

this tank is my main hobby... i tailor my life around this... if i plan to go bike riding somewhere far and and i'm all ready; if someone mentions a LFS i'll drop everything and go... there isn't a hobby more important than the reef keeping...

I had a similar thing happen when zoa pox hit my tank. Zoas started dying, they polluted the water, more things started dying, polluting the water more, and it went downhill from there. I was really discouraged for a while and slacked on my WC's, which made the problem even worse.

Eventually I got my act together though...I got back on top of my maintenance, pulled the rock and scrubbed the algae, and I ended up totally re-scaping my tank. Now I am really back into it again, and I am enjoying it like I used to.

Hopefully you will bounce back as well. Just remember that you are in it to enjoy yourself, so if you aren't having fun any more, maybe you should take a break, or try something radically different to make it exciting again....Good Luck!

yep same hear I have a 300 gal that just went through a hair break out. did not lose anything but wow it looked like Cousin It for a little while. I found that my make up water was not going through the DI unit correctly. the canister I use to refill the DI beeds had a different lid for it and it was making it to short and the water went around the DI unit. I fixed the problem and the algae started to di off and now it is gone. it took 30 days to get rid of it and now the Coraline is starting to take over now. all this happened when I changed my aqua scaping and added 2 new rocks to the system

So Eric. I guess you don't want that Digi?
I have HA. Doesn't bother me. I have Cyano. It sort of bothers me. I have a small colony of Hawaiian wig wags starting to fade away. My fire and ice is also withering away all the while some new polyps are coming in but are different looking.
I figure it's life. Your issues sound pretty heavy. Something's not right. Figure it out and fix it. Then you can have this thing to start out again. I hate this hobby too. But I've had tanks since 2nd. grade. Aquariums are my hobby.

didn't you just set that tank up?... if you did, do you think that you didnt gave it enough time to mature and cycle properly?.... especially for sps and other delicate corals?...
