I would love to get things up and running. I’m going out all my cards out on the table.

I put around $500 in my own money to get people to show up. But the last 2 meeting we got a total of 5 people showed up. It feels like if I wasn’t dropping $200-$300 on a raffle prize no one is willing to show up. I was hoping Saturday afternoons were going to be a great time for meetings, idk maybe I’m wrong.

Yes I understand free shit gets people to show up. But sorry to say but I wish IEMAS was as big as SCMAS so we can have great raffle prizes. I believe we would be stronger in numbers and participation could help build numbers.

I’m very open to ideas and suggestions

But can’t lie. I felt a bit of a failure when in the last meeting it was Art Plata and my self.
sorry to hear man

idk what other people were up to, but the meetings just happened to always coincide with me being out of town. i go camping a lot during the summer, once or twice a month usually, so if memory serves that was what i was up to. if i was in town i would've been there. i think one overlapped with RAP too?

i don't go for the raffle prizes (i don't think i've ever won anything ever) so idk what draws people in. maybe a good speaker? topic? idk. certainly seems like there would be enough reefers in the general IE area to get a group together consistently. maybe monthly is too much? maybe once every other month

well I've only been reefing since 2020 and I'm learning from everyone along the way.

I've been busy and been unable to show up these past few months. I attend and try to talk to people about their system and what makes them successful.

If people expect raffles maybe have everyone contribute into a pot monthly and only those who contribute get to win. Drawings every 6 months or 1 year???

Maybe have meeting once a qtr or every other month?

I would like to attend soon so I can attempt to donate some frags (green gonis/ golden rod)

I'm down to meet. I've been in and out of the hobby for years. Cant make myself permanently quit for some reason, just started my nano tank. What I have noticed is that the forums are somewhat of a ghost town nowadays. I would start out an FB group or something similar to get the IE reefers engaged.

Honestly, I don’t show up for the “free shit”. I show up for the social interactions and tank discussions.

I do enjoy giving away free shit though.

I’m in… let’s meet. Looks like we span from Temecula to Redlands? There can we meet that is mid point? Perris? Riverside? Any volunteer reef store? Was there or is there a previous club? Thoughts?

The IEMAS meetings have been held at Reef Lounge Norco. These meeting are only as good as we make them. Participation is key. @emac can confirm, but think we decided every other month.

Do you have an idea of how many members and what was the attendance like? That’s great👍🏼

I believe there are few things that limit participation. I agree not all come for the free stuff and many would like to share. At the end participation comes down to distance and day
if week. Riverside is quite extensive. I recently participated in a San Fernando meet was amazing but 1.5 hr drive. Would plan for it once a month (7-8 gallons of gas). But rather have local going. I’m off Cajalco and 215fwy

Not sure if we can have a poll for a time on Sunday? And Location? Would it make a difference in participation?
thoughts?
