I've battled cyano for months. Finally said f it and removed filter socks completely and turned off skimmer. Technically have no filtration except for in tank algae.cyano is starting to go away and coraline is finally growing on the rocks. I have 1 sps piece that has finally colored up nice and is growing. Lps are nicer than ever. Tank gets fed everyday for 6 fish in it. It's amazing how 1 tank can be so different than the next. My last tank had a huge skimmer, constant water changes, filter socks, minimal feedings and grew everything. This tank does better with 1 water change a month, no socks or skimmer and heavy feeding.

Early stages of a tank are a different animal sometimes. Agreed that each tank can run differently than the last, but parameters should back up choices on when to run nutrient reduction.
