Have owned both new and used tanks in the past, but this is my first actual custom built LeeMar. Big thanks to Aaron at SPS Coral Store for his help and great customer service.

I am not the type of person that thinks he knows it all when it comes to this hobby as I am always open to seeing things from a different perspective, so please feel free to comment or make suggestions along the way. Here are the specs:

LeeMar Aquarium

- 48" x 24" x 20"
- Rimless
- Starfire on front glass
- Corner overflow with two 1.5" bulkheads
- Opposite corner rear return with 1" bulkhead
- Black painted back
- Black silicone

LeeMar Stand

- Oak Crest
- Flush doors
- Semi-gloss black

Wait time: 4-8 weeks

Advanced Acrylics sump: 40" x 20" x 18" or something similar to those dimensions

Lights: Undecided as I love Mh shimmer, but love LED electricity savings. Suggestions?

Skimmer: Undecided as well. Suggestions?

Controller: Reef Keeper Plus

Ato: JBJ w/AA reservoir

Dosing Pump: Bubble Magus

Return Pump: Have ran 2 tanks with Tunze 1073.40 in the past so might go with the tried and true on this tank as well.

Water flow will be provided by 2 vortech mp-40wes.

This will be a mixed reef, but SPS will probably dominate real estate.

Here are 2 sketches of my tank. Disregard the drain bulkhead sizes. They will both be drilled for 1 1/2 inch bulkheads

Very cool. Looks like you got it all planned out. I'm assuming you're going with a new Advanced Acrylic sump and Ato reservoir.

I really wanted to go 96x30x30 but i guess this will do for now. lol. But yeah, i hear you on the led. my nuvo 38 that i just broke down made almost no change on the electricity bill because of the led's.

Haven't really set a budget for anything on this build to be honest but I just want to make sure that I get what will keep my reef happy and thriving like my previous 90g.

I love my reef octopus skimmer

U should buy ur skimmer before u have john build ur sump. Ur gunna want to know the water level that the skimmer needs to be in. Or u can have john build the sump with a high water level for more water volume, and he can incorporate an acrylic stand built into the sump for ur skimmer to sit on

I regret not building my sump after I had my skimmer.

can't wait to see the tank built! If you were gonna go LED were there some brands you were thinking of? Reef Breeders, AI, Radion, Maxxspect?

Super reef octopus XP-3000

I love mine. It's a beast. Another reason why u should buy ur skimmer first...this skimmer needs to be in no more then 6" of water. Anything over that, it doesn't work right. Obviously a stable water level. As long as u can take care of those two things, u will love the skimmer. As Johnwin if he likes his, he just got the xp2000. Which would work great for ur setup

What about water movement? If you go with ecotech vortechs, you'll have to get the radion leds

razors or kessils, but i'm really diggin' the ati led/t5 combo fixture. a 36" one would look so fresh and so clean over my tank, me thinks.

I have the same dimensions. Leemar 48 x 24 x 20. Also have corner overflow. My sump takes up the whole footprint inside my metal stand. I think you will be very happy with those dimensions.

Tambach??

I paid $300 used. :)

New I think they're $500-$600. That's for the 3000 though. The 2000 is cheaper. Hit up mike at sexy corals. He could prolly get u a deal on the skimmer, he might have it in stock.

thanks for the info on the skimmer, will put that on the short list of skimmers to research in a bit.

hey Matt, yeah i remember seeing your tank either on here or rc when you posted it a while back. initially i wanted to setup something like a clear diamond or cadlights 50g but my love for larger fish such as regal angels and tangs is too great. then i wanted something like 48x30x20 but stand wont fit through the door and what am i left with..the perfect tank size for me at this point.

BTW Matt, do you have any recent pics of your tank that you can post on here? trying to get ideas on rockscape/aquascape for this dimension tank.
