"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"I see.you lost all sense of reason when you come along in this hobby far enough to want to grow nuisance critters. Why? For the fun of it!
It’s all on 1 big rock. The SPS have all encrusted around it. I think I’ll just have to dremel the torch as close to the stem/rock and pray it doesn’t get killed. It’s such a beautiful torch and a natural spawn too. Would be a shame.very nice torch. could you leave it and move everything else out of its way? lol
I’ve had luck with torches touching. My only issue with that is when an Aussie torch touches an Indo. One loses then. But keeping Indos together has worked for me.It’s all on 1 big rock. I wanted to relocated it to the back wall, but the Tiger Knicks torch already took that spot. What is the consensus on torches touching each other?
Dude, that sucks and I’m sorry to hear. I really hate those mystery deaths.I'm devastated. I found my powder brown tang stuck to my MP40, already dead. WTF is wrong with this picture.
It was fine this morning. No signs of any disease, pest or damage. He was the Alpha and chief bully in the tank. It eats like a pig and get all kinds of frozen, nori, pellets, etc. He was so much fun to look at because he's always crazy. He chases my Tunze magnet scraper when I'm cleaning the glass. And he's been with my powder blue tang and naso tang for a long time, and the leader of the tang gang. It's going to be hard to replace him.
Sometimes I hate this hobby. The tank was doing a lot better when I wasn't even looking at it.
RIP little buddy.![]()

I think I do have the MP40 on multiple different modes that they offer, and I see that I do have pulse during the afternoon. But it's been like for a long time. I just switched from pulse to tidal as a precaution, and see if that helps. Thanks for letting me know. Perhaps there is a long enough stop in the MP40, and the fish wants to sneak in there because there is algae growing in the powerhead.Very sorry for your loss, those are the worst kind. Do you have your MP40 on pulse mode? I lost a couple fish in the same brutal fashion shortly after starting pulse mode on my MP60s
I bit the bullet and removed the torch off this rock before it got big enough to sting the SPS above it. I took the whole rock out and used the dremel with a cutting wheel. The cutting wheel can only go so deep into the rock. So I had to use a screwdriver and hammer to chisel it off.So I have a dilemma. My spawned baby holy grail torch is all grown up and now killing SPS. Half of the green SPS right to it has already died. I’m afraid it’ll be able to reach more SPS and OG bounces around it.I need to cut it off, but it is pretty embedded in the rock. And torches are known to BJD (which to me is just their guts) and killing anything the brown stuff touches. It is on 1 piece of rock with 4 SPS above it attached, so it’s not the easiest thing to remove. I would need to get that whole rock out of the tank, chisel or dremel the torch off quickly and get the rock back in the tank so the SPS can live.
