Simple, but genius. Scrap upwards, they fall right into the little box attached to the scraper. Brilliant and can reach to the back of the tanks! If only I could remember where I saw it...

Found some old photos of the DCR Lighthouse Lokani frag (from a few post back) that I started with about 1/2" nub. Slow grower for me. Hopefully, it's done basing out for close to 2 years, and finally have some growth upwards.

Testing if my 2 different torches are compatible. I put them side by side on frag rack. In hindsight, maybe this wasn’t a bright idea because both may melt if they sting each other.
Luckily, they seemed to play nice. So I stuck them on back wall, and that’s where they will stay with room to grow. Eventually when I get some single frag racks, I can move them apart.

Not bad. Will probably need to clean my skimmer and filter floss. Haven't done it in awhile.
I need to do a water change too. I think the zinc is probably still high as some corals are losing color and stressing.

Not bad at all, just raise your NO3 to 9ppm and you’re rock’n. Maybe a little ammonium bicarb would help.
Okay, I'm going to bump up my nitrates and try to drop my phosphates.
The tank seems like it is going through a funk. My plates are suffering from color loss, which is strange. I'm thinking it might be the high zinc, but not sure.
I'm planning to do a water change this weekend to reset a bit.
Also, been thinking about how to add a small frag tank to my system. But it may not be the right time yet. I still have too many things on my plate to attempt this. Plus I figured it'll cost about $600 to set up a small and clean frag tank. But got some big bills coming up to take care of...roof repair from bad previous roofing contractor, kid's sports fees, kid's PC/laptop rebuilds. etc.

Yeah, I would hold off adding anything to the tank until you get things back to "normal". Do a series of 20% water changes every week for the next few weeks or until you've changed out 100% of your water by volume. Just pulse dose some ammonium bicarb 2-3x a day until you're around 8-10ppm. Are you currently dosing traces?
Also, if you've been feeding mostly pellets, cut back a little and feed more frozen (rinsed mysis or LRS).

It's my DIY trace that I'm dosing. Probably not the most accurate, but it should have a bit of all elements going in there all the time.
I did squirt a couple syringes of sodium bicarb into the sump. I'm seeing a lot more algae on my glass, so I think there is a lot of DOC in the tank. I'm also seeing a lot more aiptasia as well. Hoping to pick up some berghias at RAP, and at least start another attempt at aiptasia control.

You’ll most likely see more algae growing and quickly after you clean the glass, as your nutrients are out of balance with each other. Raise your NO3 enough to match your PO4. Nitrate divided by phosphate, multiply by 1.53, you want to be as close to 50 as possible. It’s not the actual numbers, but the relationship with each other. A molar ratio of 50 is ideal for sps, but also for overall balance.
Since my fresh saltwater barrel is in the outdoor shed, the day time outside temp is 95F+ and the water is 87F. I can't even perform a water change. I'm putting some water bottles in the freezer, so I can drop it into the barrel to cool it down. This is a dilemma since the weather is going to stay hot. I'll try to do it tomorrow morning if the water can cool overnight.

First time seeing the long thin sweeper my HG torch is sending out. The good thing is that I can move it higher so it doesn’t sting the SPS.
I have a weird phenomenon in my tank. Large sheets of coralline algae on my back wall is popping off. I have no idea why, and isn’t the first time it has happened. I had an OG growing on that wall, so it came down too.
