La mirada area?

Any one in or around la mirada area that would be willing to come look at my setup and tell me what you think? I need help with overflow and return.

I know I'm a new guy on the forums (I don't bite), but I do really need some help and ideas on what I can do with my overflow and return. It's just a 2" pipe dropping straight down into my sump. I've got a rio 32hf pump for my return with 1" tubing and a ball valve open about half way(had to slow down the return since it's too much for my overflow). Any help will be appreciated.

If it's just a pipe like the pick you need to empty it and install a box

No. As you can see in my pics, the pipe is a ways from the glass so it would be a pretty big box.

The pipe is 6.5" away from the side and back glass

Not good I would plug it and start over and put a center overflow you not gonna be happy with it like that

Apparently the guy who had this tank before me had it running for a few years. Broke it down and upgraded to a 300 gallon

Oh and I'm not going reef with this tank. It's going to be a FOWLR system.

I dunno y any one would run a tank like that but if you want my honest opinion put a overflow box or buy a tank with one and use your stand like I did I bought a complete setup without box so I junked the tank and ordered a brand new one with box in center. What size sump what size return pump what are your plans fish only mixed reef ???

Gotcha better put big fish so the done get sucked in and block the overflow and flood your room

I'm trying to find a small piece of rain gutter screen to wrap around the pipe. And I'm planning on stocking lionfish, puffer, or eel as my primary eye candy.

Could I just cut the pipe down and turn it into a durso style with a PVC screen cap?

Why don't you plug it and at least do a hang on back overflow it would be cheap

Cause I would have to break it down. And I have no where to keep the water, sand and rock and also the tank is just starting to cycle.

Just google pond intake screen or strainer. Should work well.
