Hello Everyone,
I want to talk about the Blotched Anthias also known as the borbonius Anthias.
I have had my female barb now for about a year.
My tank is mixed with Bartlett’s , well was as I am down to only two males left. Before introducing the borbonius Anthias I had 4 male Bartlett’s now I am down to 2 as they suddenly became aggressive when I put the female borbonius. This is where it starts to get interesting. I notice that the male Bartlett’s started to do a show in the tank. What I mean is fight but in a beautiful way but didn’t understand why until covid hit. This is just my theory. I have been working from home and watch my tank for most of the day now since I don’t have to be in the office. I notice that my borbonius has started to make room in the tank to spawn. The male Bartlett’s are fighting to the death over her. Now I could have taken them out and saved good amount of money but let it be as it’s pretty amazing to see. My question is can this be possible for borbonius and a Bartlett actually mate and produce eggs?
Any marine biologist in this forum?
