After 2 failed attempts at acclimating Mangroves to saltwater, I had a nice little conversation with Julian Sprung at RAP. He was generous with his knowledge as well as some white mangrove seeds. Now I attempt another slow acclimation to saltwater. White mangroves tolerate salt better than red or black according to literature I've come across. Mr. Sprung also shared that same sentiment. Wish me luck.

Good luck!

btw: these things take forever to grow so why not just buy a small plants from Steve for only $10/each? ;)

Btw, if the roots are intact and have no rips/tears, they can go directly into saltwater, but if the roots get damaged, SW will take them out. Julian said that you can move red's to SW without acclimating them. I found if a red is not doing well, check the roots to make sure there's no damage. Let the roots work themselves into the substrate and don't force them. I found that suspending them in the water column allows them to find the substrate on their own and makes for a better rooting. White and black are a different story though. Good luck!

I think you need a reef tank first.

Then this mangrove stuff will be child's play with all that fish poop :poop:.

:ROFLMAO:

Ive got a killer screen saver and a reef channel on the tube. So far, my success has been 100% and mortality especially down to 0. Ive even seen them spawning:p

I'm going to set up a mangrove, sea grass tank for my breeding pair of banggais soon. I'll probably just throw in some pulsing xenia and something else simple. But you could do something simple with just a mangrove and a couple blue eyes.

Im close....thinking about the 90l from UNS or something similiar as kitchen top decor. The dimensions fit and I'd go with corals that won't die unless the next fallout event occurs.

Frank, if you want a red mangrove, I have an extra one you can have.
