Anyone know how to tell if my maroon clownfish are mating? It seems to me that they are but when I tried to look up videos I didn’t see anything. If they are mating and about to release eggs soon is there something I should put in the tank that they can place their eggs in to keep them safe or?

thank you!

They will throughly clean a spot on a rock or sometimes the glass in preperation to laying eggs. The female will plump up as well. Their eggs are bright orange and they will both attend to them fanning them to keep circulation to to the eggs.
Alot of people use clay flower pots on their side for them to lay in. Either the whole pot or half a pot. A peice of ceramic tile also works and is easily removable if you plan to raise the young yourself.

thank you so much for the detailed answer! It helps a lot! They have quite a few huge anemones in their tank they can keep their eggs in, will that keep the eggs safe from the other fish?

They will not lay their egs in the anemone. Usually they will lay them on a rock just under the anemone. That will protect them to some extent, but not 100%. Maroons are agressive enough, they will keep most fish away.
